The Process

From script to coverage.

What happens between submission and delivery —
and why it's different from anything else out there.

Step by Step

Three steps. One report that works.

No lengthy intake forms. No waiting weeks. Just your script, our read, and analysis built to move it forward.

01

Submit your script.

Upload your PDF and tell us the basics: title, writers, format, and primary genre. That's the complete intake — no questionnaires, no lengthy briefs. Your script does the talking.

PDF format only  ·  Feature / TV / Limited / Vertical
02

We get to work.

Your script goes through a structured, multi-pass analysis — built specifically for coverage, not adapted from general-purpose tools. Structure, character, dialogue, tone, market positioning, and buyer-fit are all examined in depth.

The analysis draws on a proprietary reference archive of produced film and television — built not as a template library, but as a tool for specificity. The kind that lets coverage cite a structural parallel from a produced screenplay by name, scene, and craft element.

A senior reader then reviews the output, writes a personal Reader's Note, and signs off on the report before it reaches you.

03

Your coverage arrives.

Your report is delivered to your account — a comprehensive, designed document built to be read and returned to. Not a form-fill PDF. Not a wall of bullet points. Coverage built to move your script forward.

Delivered to your account dashboard  ·  Readable on any device
What's Inside

The report. In full.

Every dimension of your script examined. Nothing surface-level, nothing skipped.

SECTION 00
Topsheet
At-a-glance summary — logline, format, recommendation tier, and comp titles.
SECTION 01
Logline
We create a logline. Pitch-shaped and precise — based on our read of the script.
SECTION 02
Premise & Concept
Concept strength, originality, and whether the core idea sustains the format.
SECTION 03
Structure
Act architecture, pacing, turning points, and how the engine holds (or stalls) across the script.
SECTION 04
Character
Protagonist construction, supporting ensemble, character agency, and whether the emotional spine holds.
SECTION 05
Dialogue & Tone
Voice distinctiveness, tonal consistency, subtext, and how the script sounds on the page.
SECTION 06
Genre & Craft
Genre execution evaluated against the conventions of the primary and secondary genre. What's working, what's missing.
SECTION 08
Weaknesses
Prioritised by severity. Urgent, critical, and important issues only — not a laundry list but targeted looks at areas to strengthen.
SECTION 09
Revision Notes
Concrete, actionable revision cards keyed to the weaknesses. A clear path, not vague direction.
SECTION 10
Synopsis
Distilling the script's story down to its essence — assisting in efficient decision-making for producers, agents, and execs, while verifying story comprehension.

TV pilots, limited series, and vertical formats include an additional Series Engine section — a 6-pillar assessment of premise sustainability, character engine, and long-arc potential.

What Makes It Different

Built different. For good reason.

Three things dev|cut. does that other coverage services don't — and why each one matters.

01

Buyer-fit intelligence.

Most coverage asks "is this good?" and stops there. dev|cut. goes further, asking "who would buy this and why?" Every coverage includes a market viability assessment — a buyer-fit table with industry-substantiated rationale that looks at studio and network profiles, their current slates, and what they're buying. It's the analysis that bridges craft and commerce, and virtually no other coverage service offers it.

02

Coverage as a creative ally.

dev|cut. was built around one conviction: great coverage is sympathetic to creative agency, not a rejection filter. Every note is in service of helping the writer achieve their vision. Analysis that finds the path forward, not the reason to stop. For producers and agents, it's an honest look at whether this script is the one you're looking for right now.

03

Senior reader on every report.

Every dev|cut. coverage report is reviewed and signed off by a working development professional, someone who has sat on both sides of the table. Not an assistant's first pass. Not automated output with no human fingerprint. A real read, with a real name signed on it.

"Great coverage is a creative ally, not a gatekeeper."
